Held well, breath can open people to parts of themselves they've never consciously met. Held carelessly, it can do real harm.
That isn't said to frighten anyone. It's said because you deserve to know exactly what we stand for before you step into any space we hold.
Ethics isn't a box we tick. It's the foundation for how we teach, how we facilitate, how we train others, and how we keep learning long after a session ends.
In every session
Whatever the format, five things are always true.
Whether you join a group journey, a private session or a training, this is what you can rely on.
-
01
You decide how far to go.
The breath is an invitation, never a demand. You can slow down, pause or stop at any time, and your facilitator will support that without question.
-
02
You'll know what to expect.
A health and contraindication form comes first, so the practice can be matched or adapted to you. Every session then begins with clear information about what it involves, what can arise and what support is there.
Informed consent isn't a formality here. It's the starting point.
-
03
What you share stays private.
What you share, feel or move through in a session is yours. Confidentiality is taken seriously at every level.
The only exceptions are where someone's safety is at serious risk, or where the law requires it.
-
04
Every identity is welcome.
Cultural background, gender, history and every kind of difference are honoured. The space is built to hold everyone, and we keep learning how to do that better.
-
05
Your safety comes before the session.
If something arises that is beyond what breathwork can safely hold, we will say so clearly, kindly and without judgement, and help you find the right professional support.
Knowing the limits of our practice is part of practising ethically.
Why we hold this standard
Ready for the full range.
Breathwork is growing. More people are discovering it, more facilitators are entering the space, and new trainings appear every year. That's good: the world needs more people who can hold space well.
It also means the standard of that holding matters more than ever.
A facilitator needs to be ready not only for the beautiful, expansive experiences the breath can bring, but for everything that can arise when someone finally gives themselves permission to feel.
Grief. Fear. Old memories. Physical intensity. The unexpected.
Being prepared for all of it isn't about being clinical or guarded. It's about being present, grounded and skilled enough to stay steady when someone needs that steadiness most.
That's what we train for, and what we hold ourselves to, every time.
Our commitments
What we stand for, in plain language.
-
01
Safety first, always.
Every decision in every session is guided by the wellbeing of the person in front of us. Not the plan, not the playlist, not the expected arc of the journey.
-
02
Transparency.
We're clear about what we offer, what we don't, and where our scope of practice ends. We don't overstate what breathwork can do. We don't understate it either.
-
03
Ongoing learning.
Ethics isn't a qualification you earn once. The field evolves and understanding deepens, so we keep learning, and so does every facilitator we train.
-
04
People above profit.
The work exists to serve the people who come to it. That shapes every decision, from pricing to how we handle enquiries to what we say yes and no to.
-
05
Boundaries that protect everyone.
Clear professional boundaries are a form of care. They protect participants, they protect facilitators, and they make the space safer for everyone in it.
-
06
Accountability.
If an experience falls short of these standards, we want to know. Every concern goes directly to our founder and receives a reply within 48 hours.

Considering becoming a facilitator?
Who you train with shapes who you become.
If you're curious about our Facilitator Training, this page is part of the picture we want you to have. We train facilitators who are not only technically skilled, but genuinely prepared to hold human complexity with care, integrity and presence.
Ethical practice runs through the whole curriculum. Not as a standalone module, but as a thread through everything.
If something fell short, we want to know.
Every facilitator in the SOULBODY BREATH® community is held to a clear code of ethics and conduct. If your experience with one of them fell short of that, in any way, large or small, please tell us.
Share what happened as clearly and fully as you feel able to. Everything you share is treated with confidentiality and genuine care.
